Compare lumen ratings when replacing a bulb. Start with the old bulb’s output, then adjust for how you use the space and how many fixtures share the job.
A 2700K bulb gives a warm appearance. Around 3000K is a slightly crisper warm white. Cooler options such as 4000K or 5000K can suit task areas, depending on your preference.
Look for a dimmable bulb and check the dimmer manufacturer’s compatibility list. If the bulb flickers or won’t dim low enough, the combination may be incompatible.
Check the required app, hub and Wi-Fi band before buying. If other people use the room, consider how they’ll turn the light on when their phone isn’t nearby.
Measure each cabinet run and note where power is available. Compare plug-in bars, strips and rechargeable units based on how often you use the counter.
Read the fixture and bulb location ratings. For a spot exposed to direct rain, confirm the installed lighting is rated for wet locations.
Place task lighting where your body won’t cast a shadow over the bench. Compare fixture dimensions and mounting requirements before ordering.
Check the original base, dimensions, voltage and fixture requirements. For an oven or other high-temperature appliance, use a replacement specified for that appliance.
If a bulb sits inside a sealed globe or cover, check that the packaging explicitly permits enclosed fixtures. Follow the fixture label’s limits.
